2.   What is a Junior Association

A Junior Association is an informal organization that legally depends on the National Network. The National Network provides insurance, bank account, guidance, and gives youth the opportunity to manage a project by themselves.

At least 2 teenagers are the representatives of the Junior Association; it is not mandatory to define a president, a secretary and a treasurer (even if they do, most of the time), but they have to decide who will represent the association.

The teenagers are the only one in charge of their project, but they share the responsibility with the National Network for legal matters; they can’t contract by themselves for example, and when they ask for subsidies they need to declare themselves as a branch of the National Network.

However, there are some limitations: for instance, Junior Associations can’t have employees.

HOW TO CREATE A JUNIOR ASSOCIATION ?

Most projects are accepted as long as they have a community life target.

CRITERIAS
1. Be at least two
2. A majority of young people under 18
3. At least 2 representatives under 18 when they ask for the 1st accreditation
4. Pay each year a 10—euro contribution

THE PROCESS
Teenagers willing to create a Junior Association have to:
  •  Download the application form on-line
  •  Send the application to the « county outpost » who will meet with them
Then
  •  The accreditation committee checks over the application
  •  Teenagers receive feedback, and the Junior Association is in most case, accredited for an academic year

Each year, in October, the Junior Association has to ask for reaccreditation

If there’s a majority of young people over 18 at the reaccreditation date, they have the possibility of being an « over 18 Junior Association » for a period of 2 years, so that they can take the steps of transitioning into a regular non-profit organization.
